We normally aren’t all that into M.I.A. Something about her whole image is so irritating. Maybe it’s because she classifies her music as simply “Other,” refusing to pick a genre.

We’ve got news for every artist out there trying to claim their music is “unclassifiable:” all of your music can be described with genres at the end of the day.

The trend for artists to say their music can’t be nailed down most likely stems from thinking along the lines of, “Oh, my music is so unique and unprecedented that there’s just no label in existence that works for it.” It’s fine if people want to think that, but unless you grew up in a cabin in the middle of nowhere and never heard any music before making your music, chances are it draws on preexisting music in at least some form.

Enough ranting though. Lazer Sword has taken this track by Nump that features M.I.A. and made it listenable.
