PIAS RECORDINGS 30 SQUARE web1 [PIAS] CONTINUE 30TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS BY LAUNCHING WEBSITE AND APP OF RARE AND EXCLUSIVE CONTENT + 2ManyDJs 30th Anniversary Mix

This December [PIAS] Recordings will launch a new website piasrecordings.com which will give the user access to rare and exclusive content from some of the labels’ artists past and present. The website will also be mirrored on mobile with an App version that also includes a competition based around image recognition technology.

The content – which includes rare and exclusive tracks, cover versions, free downloads, DJ mixes, unseen videos, live performances and documentaries – comes from artists including Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Propellerheads, New Fast Automatic Daffodils, Enter Shikari, Tiga, 2 Many DJ’s and many more. [PIAS] Recordings have also been busy putting together a Youtube timeline for the 30 years, which just launched on December 4th.

The label has also recently been celebrating it’s 30th year as a true Independent by re-issuing some of their classic albums on vinyl as well as making them available for a limited period at a special price at www.itunes.com/pias30

[PIAS] was founded in Brussels in 1982 by Kenny Gates and Michel Lambot, two friends who were huge fans of indie music and who were inspired by British labels like Rough Trade and Mute. Today the now London-based company remains completely independent, employing over 200 people within its distribution business and its two record labels, Play It Again Sam and Different Recordings. Play It Again Sam’s growing roster includes Seasick Steve, Ghostpoet, Soulwax, and Andy Burrows who had this to say about his label’s birthday:

“Play It Again Sam are truly a label to celebrate, anniversary or no anniversary. They’re a record company with a real passion for great music, a rare thing these days. I never thought I could feel so genuinely excited for a record label but I do feel that for them… love ‘em.”

“It’s great to be able to celebrate our achievements over the past 30 years,” says [PIAS] Recordings M.D. Pete Thompson, “but we’re also looking forward to 2013. I think [PIAS] Recordings’ 31st year could well be its most important yet, with key releases from Agnes Obel, Ghostpoet, Soulwax and Editors. What a way to start the next 30 years!”
