First of all, we want to preface this by saying that we love Mac and PCs equally. We don’t even care about that whole argument that has been raging on for years about which is better, Mac or PC? That argument is especially absurd when it shows up on the Internet, because the parties involved don’t even know each other. Macs are supposedly for more creative-oriented people and PCs are supposedly best for businesses, or something like that. We know that hipsters are supposed to be all about Apple computers and everything, but we really have no beef with Windows Vista. That’s right, Windows Vista has yet to crash or cause any serious problems for us since we began running it (literally a few days after its release) in mid-November 2006. Now, Windows 7 is on the way and we’re all about that. As a matter of fact, we happily anticipate the July 2009 release of Windows 7.

People say Windows and PCs rip-off Mac ideas and stuff, but we don’t care about that either. We’re happy with things the way they are and believe that a lot of people’s ideas and opinions regarding Mac and PC are completely influenced by marketing nonsense. If you get down to it, computers are machines and no machine is perfect or glitch-free. You can use the same hardware for both Macs and PCs–for the most part–and the biggest difference between the two is in their operating systems and cosmetic appearance. Oh, and we don’t hate Microsoft either: we respect what they have done for computing and really find it idiotic for people to focus anger towards a corporation when corporations typically behave in fairly predictable ways.

Okay, right so back to the subject at hand. Microsoft Songsmith is this hilarious new software that Microsoft is selling and we just can’t get over the fact that they’re serious about it. Just watch the clips below and you’ll see what we’re talking about. If you’re at all musically inclined, you’re going to see why Microsoft Songsmith is so terrible. Of course, any bad marketing campaign can make a product seem really cheesy. Nintendo did it with lots of Wii commercials that never made it to TV, but we think these Songsmith demos are even worse. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the commercials are being designed for Internet viewing, or maybe the people behind them are just total nerds. Either way, enjoy these laughable clips and if you hate Microsoft, rest assured that this is one of their failures.
