For their Fall Collection Jiberish (jiberish.com) decided to venture outside of their traditional lookbook and create a video to showcase a few pieces through film.

I am a former Jiberish athlete who now does freelance video work out of NYC. Jiberish asked me to create a short that captures the vibe and style of some of their good friends wearing their favorite Fall 2011 pieces on a classic autumn day in Denver.

It was really, really bad. I had high expectations of Kanye because he always looks so pulled-together and seems to be a genuine fan of fashion. I think he would have done better with a men’s line possibly. His women’s line was trashy and expensive at the same time, boobies were hanging out all over, and he managed to make even the smallest model look like she has a weight problem. No woman would want to wear any of these looks, ever. I’m not really sure what he was doing here, but hopefully he never does it again. He should probably stick to music and designing his own outfits.I have included some of my least favorite looks.

The Lightning In a Bottle Festival presented by The Do Lab just finished, and we got a bunch of photos from the event. There was as much eye candy as there was ear candy. Speaking, of course, about the attire people were wearing. Videos from the event that overlap the period some of the photography was taken are forthcoming.

While I was looking up the topic of Spring fashion, I came across an article entitled, “Spring Essentials for under $500.” $500? Really? For one article of clothing? While I can understand buying one designer piece for $500, there is no way that the average person can afford this, so I decided to summarize the tips in this article.

1. Stripes – personally, I believe that stripes are in fashion, regardless the season; but, I have noticed a lot of really cute pastel striped shirts and tank tops lately. I saw some at Forever 21, I think they were like $10.

2. Color blocking – similar to stripes, but with larger chunks of color. Very cute and looks good on everyone.

3. The return to preppy fashion – although I’m not sure that preppy fashion went away, I think that the emphasis here is on tailoring. Everyone looks better when their clothes fit properly.

This article also mentions neon. I hate neon, I can really not stress that enough. Neon is awful and makes you look like a clown. Sometimes I see young kids (like 13 or 14) wearing it and it looks sort of cute on them, but I don’t believe that neon is ever a successful look for an adult.

Denim is also big for the Spring, like always, but especially colored denim, so mix it up. Maybe try some green jeans.

The Diesel Island Dinner Party at SXSW!

Diesel & Spin Magazine treat their favorite SXSW artists to an intimate dinner. Attendees of the dinner were inducted as ambassadors to The Diesel Island Land of the Stupid Land of the Brave. Special guest DJ’s Million $ Mano, Willy Joy and Mia Moretti provided the tunes for the evening. Attendees include: A-Trak, B.O.B, Perez Hilton, Aziz Ansari, Bam Margera, Theophilus London, and Ellie Goulding.

Superman has been revamped by DC Comics artist Shane Davis in the new graphic novel, “Superman: Earth One,” written by J. Michael Straczynski. You can tell from the photo above that the new Superman has a more youthful, stylish vibe. Arguably, comics are being affected by the “Twilight Effect,” between this new Superman and the new Wonder Woman getting a similar edgy makeover with a new hair style and clothes.

According to the New York Post, the new Man of Steel “wears hoodies” and “has smoldering eyes”; and as Clark Kent, he wears low-cut pants and skinny ties. Does this mean Superman is a hipster now? DC Comics co-publisher Dan DiDio said “We wanted to tell a story that’s hip, sexy, and moody,” when talking about the new graphic novel, which will be available on November 2.

With the release of her much anticipated debut album called “Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans”, what else could pop sensation Uffie think about doing, but a worldwide partnership with denim supremo Diesel? The ‘DIESEL + Uffie’ label will grace 12 exclusive pieces combining leather and denim with intriguing cuts and mixed materials. These collectable items will rock Diesel stores and selected contemporary stores worldwide beginning of November 2010 reaffirming Diesel’s “stupid” love for music.

We had the chance to get up close and personal with Jimmy Edgar on his Perfexxxion tour in LA. It was loads of fun. Probably a bit too much.

Edgar’s show was spectacular and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves as the house was torn down. Nothing but the best would’ve been expected from such an experienced electronic music artist.

We also got to make the acquaintance of the charismatic Miles Devin and Porcelain. Devin is an artist, nightlife personality, and fashion blogger. Porcelain is a musician in the genres of electro / industrial / pop. Always good to meet up-and-coming people out at shows.

Fantastic performances were also seen by Lil’ Kenny and the $hebangs as well as Louisahhh!!!.

The Central S.A.P.C. is an intimate venue in Santa Monica. The show had almost a fashion-show vibe more than that of an electronic music event. Pretty glad that to have made it out.

Inspired by Luc Goddart’s “Bande a Part” movie, the first video below features the 100 lucky selected people doing the famous dance in a very Diesel stupid way. The video is directed by French-born director Arno Salters; thanks to a special stop-motion technique, the music lovers appearing in the video rapidly change, along with their clothes, all while appearing to continue to smoothly follow the choreography of the dance.

There’s an association between music and other forms of art and what’s more unique than a person? LuckyMe is right on with their models and mixtape series. That was part of our inspiration for sure. At the same time, we agree with what Unit once said in one of his interviews when asked why he made his album cover art braille for “unit:” music isn’t about sight. You can be blind and still appreciate music. So fuck sight. The whole idea that musicians themselves have to be attractive just isn’t true, but it seems like there’s a tendency for people to categorize things. Beautiful things go together. Maybe that’s why music videos are typically packed with all kinds of eye candy.

We hope you find the music on the site aesthetically pleasing, but also want to show you interesting art, fashion, photography and so on at the same time. Enjoy!

Just to update you guys, we’ve added a top 10 male celebrities in skinny jeans for you to the original skinny jeans post written back in January 2009. Don’t like our choices? Feel free to love to hate us.

We had a lot of fun last week going out to see a B.E.A.R. showcase at Jimmy’s Lounge in Hollywood. We didn’t get to see the whole show, but everything we heard was great. Would you expect any less from The Briefcase Rockers though? The crowd was an interesting mix at the show and the music that B.E.A.R. pushes is unique. We said it before and we’ll say it again: everything we’ve heard from The Briefcase Rockers is music worth listening to.

We got six video clips of the show (after the photos), two of Juan Huevos–who came all the way from North Carolina to make it out to the show–and four of ERAs. It was too bad that we couldn’t get more, but that’s all spilled milk now.

On Juan Huevos, we think he is a dope live MC and his performance was get-up and kept the crowd locked-in. Bringing a cover of Avril Lavigne, and getting half-naked towards the end of his show, it’s a performance we’ll never forget. However, we like Juan Huevos’ flows and instrumentals and find his style exciting even without the show and dance. Huevos’ is upbeat and different. Good things.

People like a good show, but if there’s not substance to the music, you could put on the best show in the hottest venue out there and it would be like eating a burnt grilled cheese sandwich at a five star restaurant.

Nathaniel Eras, or ERAS, really rocked out as well. Twiddling knobs and having fun while he played, things stayed engaging. Even though more abstract, glitchier music and melodies are more of an acquired taste, if you spend much time on the site you’ve probably noticed that we love experimental music in general and especially where technology and music meet. ERAS had a high-tech gadget-driven sound that we always enjoy hearing like sipping on a unique-flavored foreign drink.

At any rate, the show was hot. The videos are a bit dark and aren’t the best representation of what the show was like, especially since we didn’t manage to record all of the artists that performed, but that’s why you have to go out to these events for yourselves. We look forward to future shows from B.E.A.R.: rock, rock on.

What better way to open a new Diesel store than by feeding some musicians dinner? Diesel jeans are notorious for being some of the best jeans out there, while also carrying one of the biggest price tags. We’re not so into the whole “For Successful Living,” slogan of Diesel, but we do think they make good quality jeans. It’s also cool that Diesel is an Italian-based company. Their location in Rome is pretty different from any location in the US though. For instance, the pants sold there are typically sold in one longer length that you then have to get hemmed, as opposed to having a selection between different pant lengths. That’s not an issue though, because the store has a tailor there who will custom-fit the pants to you–free of charge–but only on certain days of the week (which may be too bad for you if you’re just a tourist in Italy at the time).

Our two favorite artists from the video that follows are Theophilus London and Spank Rock, but we’ll probably be getting back to you on the rest of them at some point in the near future. Looks like the food was pretty good at the opening. Diesel doesn’t have to pay-off hipsters to sell cool clothing, though: it was just a coincidence!

It’s no secret that Eminem has received mixed reviews ever since the Slim Shady EP was released in 1996. We first heard Eminem in 1999 when the My Name Is record came out. Eminem’s first official release, Infinite, back in 1996 had nowhere near the same angle as the other two releases just mentioned. Infinite was basically just regular hip-hop with a much younger Eminem without much money to his name. Being famous for a while, Eminem is among Forbes Magazine’s top 20 wealthiest rappers and is releasing tracks with 50 Cent and Dr. Dre. He even has his own Air Jordan sneakers, but is Eminem finally dying off? Unless we’re just not paying attention–since we never listen to the radio anymore–Eminem isn’t as popular as he was back when he released his autobiographical movie 8 Mile.

Well, anyway, the shock value has worn off for us. Just listen to this track leaked from his forthcoming release entitled Relapse. Really not that impressed, although it’s clear that a lot of money went into the song’s production.

“Crack a Bottle:”

Skinny jeans are everywhere, and clearly are unisex, but are they really good for guys? Alright, let’s face the facts here. If you’re a guy and you’re not looking to impregnate a girl, then you’re not very concerned about the fact that skinny jeans will cause your boys to heat up to levels that are not optimal for the creation of sperm. Right, so we’ve established that younger guys not trying to have babies are fine with skinny jeans, so long as they can get past the fact that their balls are most likely painted to the sides of their legs. Sorry for that graphic image, but take heat, then take skin, then mix the two together and you’ve got some sticky nuts. Unless, of course, you rock your skinny jeans low, in which case your boys are safe from excessive heat levels.

Skinny jeans highlight the features that are normally concealed by the looser fitting, or even baggy, clothes that guys are typically inclined to wear. Unless, of course, they are hipster guys. However, it’s not a fact that all hipsters rock skinny jeans. It doesn’t make you any more “scene,” or more of a hipster to wear skinny jeans, really.

It’s probably common knowledge now to say that skinny jeans are a trendy fashion, but we can’t escape the question: are they worth the drop in comfort? It’s also common knowledge that boys have penises and girls have vaginas, so then, clearly skinny jeans are more comfortable for women: so long as they can fit into a pair properly, right? Then again, you don’t have to be model skinny to rock some skinny jeans, and you can still get the same effect, which to us (if we even notice) is just, “Oh. Look. Those jeans are tight on that person. Skinny jeans. Right. So anyway…”

How can the above pic be comfortable? Do you realize that if that dude broke one of those skinny ass legs, the paramedics would have to bust out some scissors and literally cut the pant leg of the injured limb open? That’s right, they don’t have time to sit around and wait for you to try and wriggle out of your skinny jeans, and if you have a break that’s bad enough it’s probably a bad idea to wriggle around a broken bone. So they skip all that noise and go straight for the scissors. Alternatively, if you were wearing some pants that fit you, those could would still need to sliced up. So, maybe the only pants they wouldn’t have to cut open to access your broken leg would be raver pants. We conclude that raver pants are the only decent pants to break your legs in.

Belt buckle, shoes, bracelet, leather wristbands. Uh, yeah.. All we’re saying is this guy’s shoes are terrible. He needs to move on from those. What he was thinking with those pointed tips? Sigh.

Don’t be fooled though. Celebrities have caught on to the skinny jeans trend as well. That’s right, in some cases, they could very well have been rocking skinny jeans before hipsters. Of course, they might not be quite so blatant in their flaunting of them, but oh yes, they do wear them. Here is a list of the top ten celebrity skinny jeans for everybody who doesn’t know.
