We are happy to present forthcoming HEADLINE additions to the soon approaching and much anticipated Lightning in a Bottle Music and Arts Festival 2010, presented by The Do Lab, which will occur Memorial Day weekend (May 28-31) at the beautiful Oak Canyon Ranch in Irvine, CA.

On the heels of their upcoming release “Drink the Sea”, and after a stand-out Coachella performance, The Glitch Mob will be performing along with the indie sensation Nico Vega and our cherished brothers and sisters, the Lucent Dossier Experience.

We would like to offer our sincerest thanks to all of the amazing submissions on the “Mixtape to Make the Line-up” contest. Not surprisingly our three top finalists were all unbelievable female DJ’s… The submissions have all been great and it was quite a task picking the “Grand Producer” to perform at this years LIB, but alas we have chosen and her name is KRYSTEE!

Other musical additions include Heyoka, Sidecar Tommy, Kitty D, The Luminaries, Geno Cochino, The Makers, Ron Levy, Michael Hart, Manny Greensector, Terrakroma, Motion Potion and DJ Wolfie.

Soooo… cop an album that you need.

When Kid Sister announced this show on her Facebook, we hadn’t even heard about it, but snagged tickets online the same day because intuition was just shouting that it would be a fun time. Kid Sister–aka Melisa Young–and Flosstradamus–J2K (Josh Young) and Autobot (Curt Cameruci): are you kidding us? Our expectation for the show could not have been more accurate!

Detroit Bar isn’t a huge venue in terms of space, but it’s big enough and the vibe there the whole night was awesome. We arrived early: before the place had even really filled-up, and it was still entertaining to start the night by listening to good music as the TV screens played clips from the 80′s. Not much time passed before the place was packed and everyone was dancing.

This was the best show that we’ve been to in months. It’s not purely about the music, of course, but it’s also about the crowd. Not only were the performances great, but everyone at the event was pretty chill. You know those times you’ve found yourself out and there’s some belligerent drunk guy trying to start beef with you over nothing, or when everyone’s so hung-up on looking cool that they are kind of awkward and don’t even seem like they’re really having a good time? Well, this night was the opposite. Most everyone seemed like they were just busting loose and enjoying themselves. For that reason it was a memorable night. Check out the video below and see how part of how wild things got for yourselves.

Okay, so you may have noticed the annoying feedback in the series of clips. Oh well, just like love, shows aren’t perfect. Kid Sister handled it in a breezy way though, and honestly, the energy during the show was so intense with everyone all hyped-up by the performance that it wasn’t all that noticeable.

We got six video clips of the show (after the photos), two of Juan Huevos–who came all the way from North Carolina to make it out to the show–and four of ERAs. It was too bad that we couldn’t get more, but that’s all spilled milk now.

On Juan Huevos, we think he is a dope live MC and his performance was get-up and kept the crowd locked-in. Bringing a cover of Avril Lavigne, and getting half-naked towards the end of his show, it’s a performance we’ll never forget. However, we like Juan Huevos’ flows and instrumentals and find his style exciting even without the show and dance. Huevos’ is upbeat and different. Good things.

People like a good show, but if there’s not substance to the music, you could put on the best show in the hottest venue out there and it would be like eating a burnt grilled cheese sandwich at a five star restaurant.

Nathaniel Eras, or ERAS, really rocked out as well. Twiddling knobs and having fun while he played, things stayed engaging. Even though more abstract, glitchier music and melodies are more of an acquired taste, if you spend much time on the site you’ve probably noticed that we love experimental music in general and especially where technology and music meet. ERAS had a high-tech gadget-driven sound that we always enjoy hearing like sipping on a unique-flavored foreign drink.

At any rate, the show was hot. The videos are a bit dark and aren’t the best representation of what the show was like, especially since we didn’t manage to record all of the artists that performed, but that’s why you have to go out to these events for yourselves. We look forward to future shows from B.E.A.R.: rock, rock on.

P.S. Tokyo is amazing too and their music scene is something else.

At any rate, it’s a pretty good run-down of hipsters in general. She forgot a few forms of hipsters, such as the IDM hipster, but that’s okay. Like we said, it can get vague. Lehrman also picked some decent music throughout, so good job for that too.

Definitely approve of the binary tattoos. Is there not irony in mixing something cool like a tattoo with something as nerdy as binary? One cool thing about binary is the fact that computers and technology are only going to become more integrated with people’s lives as time goes on. Wow. Did we really come up with that realization on our own? Seriously though, give it up for computer love in 2009.

The video below is interesting. Probably the best thing about it is the cinematography, although we like the track as well. It’d be cool if more independent artists could get big bank rolls for funding music videos and stuff. Money affords fancier things, but not always. To hit you with a cliché: some of the best things in life are free. Psychologically, it has been argued that attention and money are the two things that people can never get enough of. According to Wikipedia, money is a conditioned reinforcer. We are conditioned to want it the same way dogs can be conditioned to want treats when they hear clicking noises. Can it be so simple though?

We just discovered the awesome twosome that is Lazer Sword. Their record, “Blap To The Future Megamix,” blows anything Girl Talk has done out of the water. Of course, perhaps Lazer Sword is more comparable to The Glitch Mob, but what they’re doing with the techie style of glitch hip-hop is innovative and catchy as hell (we therefore highly recommend you listen to the mix below to hear for yourself)!

Volume 1 features rock and Volume 2 features nothin’ but that New Wave shit, baby. So, does this mean Lil’ Jon is attempting to follow non-mainstream trends? It’s kind of hard for Lil’ Jon to break out of the mainstream reputaiton he has, but we’re definitely feeling the Nu Wave mixtape more than the rock. Sorry rock fans.

Overall, we find Lil’ Jon laughable, but his fame and ability to create a marketable image and form of music are undeniable. After all, he’s the “King of Krunk.” Ya heard?

Car companies have been incorporating dance music into their commercials for more than a few years, but the Toyota-owned Scion A/V has stepped past those hasty 30 second spots by releasing the music itself. Ghostface Killah lent his “Charlie Brown” track, left off of Fishscale because of licensing issues, to this Scion A/V 12″ series, to be remixed by several popular electronic musicians. Featured here is the mix from Orgasmic-of Paris-based rap group TTC-who brings some high energy French beats to back the vocals of a legend.

Ghostface: “It don’t even matter. It’s just names. People always get it twisted, you know, “Is this the Ghostface Killah?” Man, it’s whatever-whatever, you can name me Shithead if you want. I don’t give a fuck about all that. It’s real, man. A name is a name, and I make music. My niggas know my voice even without the name. That’s what it is.”
