All you Mayer Hawthorne fans out there, the time has come to show your love for his latest digital release, “A Strange Arrangement,” available for download in iTunes now (click on the image above or iTunes button below to peep it).
Mayer Hawthorne is taking it forward in his influences, creating unique, soulful r&b tracks on this record. One thing we like about Mayer Hawthorne is the diversity in his music background: in addition to being Mayer Hawthorne the soul singer, he’s a DJ and has involvement in multiple ongoing hip-hop projects. That’s probably why we like listening to Mayer Hawthorne tracks so much. He has a refreshing and new sound, and has made magic with the technology of modern studios that classic r&b/soul tracks didn’t have because the technology just wasn’t available. Don’t get us wrong though, we love classic stuff, but when you find something that’s new and exciting, we think that’s part of what the music experience should be all about.
If you love music, and you’re human, then you probably can listen to songs and records a limited number of times before you begin to know them really well. Sure, love for classics is safe and those recordings will always be there–especially for the nostalgic–but there’s nothing quite like hearing some fresh and innovative music that you didn’t even realize you’d like before listening to it.
If you don’t think Mayer Hawthorne is hot, we respect your opinion, but hope you’ll enjoy listening to “A Strange Arrangement” as much as we do. Keep the momentum of the current iTunes response going!
