Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is the fourth studio album by the French rock band Phoenix, scheduled for release on May 25, 2009. The album is mixed by Philippe Zdar who also mixed Phoenix’s debut studio album, United. Phoenix released the song “1901″ as a free download on February 23, 2009 when they launched their redesigned official website. The album’s first single is “Lisztomania”.

Phoenix has functioned as backing band for the band Air. In 1992, Laurent Brancowitz worked with Guy Manuel de Homem Cristo and Thomas Bangalter (future members of the band Daft-Punk). Their music has been featured in films such as Lost in Translation, directed by Sofia Coppola (who is the leader’s significant other).

What a great record.

Final track listing should be 10 tracks when officially released, as “Love Like a Sunset” will be split into 2 tracks.
