So Michelle Locke at the Decatur Daily claims that getting retro with frosty treats this summer is the bee’s knees and that the “foodie hipster scene has declared shaved ice is the hot ‘new’ old way to stay — and be — cool.”
Shaved ice is truly delicious–and the photo above supports that–but are you really cooler for eating it? Sure it’s hot as balls in the Decatur, AL and the Tennessee Valley (where Locke lives), so that’s support for eatin shaved ice, but does everything have to be retro or tied to style? Anyone out there who feels like shaved ice makes anything cooler other than their body temperature has strange priorities. However, can’t really hate, because–again–we endorse its tastiness. Plus if you don’t feel like shaving a large block of ice or finding someone with one to shave for you, we advise you to holler at a shaved ice machine or more here. You’re welcome.
Locke also addresses mixing the shaved ice with alcohol, which is funny because that is a perfect lead-in to our review of one of our latest favorite discoveries: SnoBar Cocktails ice pops and ice cream made with alcohol. We’ll save that for later though.
