I was pretty excited when I saw an ad for HBO’s new show Girls on the side of a bus stop. I recently watched Tiny Furniture on Netflix and really enjoyed it. Lena Dunham comes off as real and endearing, the type of girl you might know, or want to be friends with. The premise for Girls, is the lives of four girlfriends in New York (sound familiar?), but unlike the ladies on Sex and the City, Girls is supposed to have a more realistic view of modern-day work and romance. While the ladies in Girls, are college-educated and well-dressed, their lives are not nearly as put together. I am curious to see a new take on dating and sex through the female perspective. Although, it is supposedly not another Sex and the City, I can’t help but think that HBO is trying to capture a new, younger female demographic that it hasn’t really been reaching with its current programming. I hope that the series is really as promising as the ads lead me to believe it will be.
Girls airs Sunday April 15 at 10:30 pm.
