So here are the photos from last night’s MTV2 VMA event (sponsored by Taco Bell: Feed the Beat) at the Music Box in Hollywood. Terrific venue, by the way.

It was an awesome time. Wallpaper. rocked the house and so did Chiddy Bang. We bounced before hearing Swizz Beatz, but before doing so got to meet Pitbull, which was pretty awesome in and of itself. He’s a fun, energetic gentleman. Video clips from the show are forthcoming (once they’re done rendering). The VMA’s on Sunday 8/28 should be spectacular given what we witnessed earlier.

As a bonus, before the clips get added, here’s a spoof Pitbull did of The King’s Speech that you should check out:

8/29/11 [Edit]: And here are the video clips we got:

Again, so many good songs on the #STUPiDFACEDD record.

So a few weeks ago we made it out to the Wallpaper. (AKA Ricky Reed) show at the Troubadour in LA. The show was so high-energy and everyone was freaking out with each song that Reed and his band put on. The only other shows we’ve seen that have been so intense are Girl Talk shows, and those get wild.

The crowd was interesting and you had the usual array of cutting-edge LA natives making appearances.

We discovered Wallpaper. by hearing the “#STUPiDFACEDD” track, but we were very pleased when Wallpaper. played some other jams from the #STUPiDFACEDD release. For instance, the track “F*****g Best Song Everrr” is really awesome and tore down the house when it came on at the Troubadour: everyone was clapping their hands to the beautiful synth melodies and catchy beats. Something unique about Reed is the style he sings in is almost as though he’s just talking to you, one-on-one, breaking things down the way they are. Once the song had been played out a first time, Reed decided to have a rewind, and everyone was still just as pumped to hear it again.

We had a pleasant sense of being properly entertained by the end of the night, walking out of the Troubadour feeling good about discovering Reed and getting a chance to hear him in full-force live. If you notice he’s in your area on tour, you definitely are missing out if you don’t go!

Also, if you’re a Jersey Shore fan, Reed’s music is featured at the end of every show and in some of the shows as well. We appreciate that MTV is spreading the word about such dope artists!
