The Met Ball

I do not live in New York, so I am not completely aware of the hype that surrounds the Met Ball, but I do look at the clothes after each one has taken place. I was particularly excited about this year’s Met Ball because I had read a few months ago that there would be an Alexander McQueen exhibit accompanying the ball. There were some really amazing dresses this year, even though most of them were not McQueen. From some of the photos that I seen of the McQueen exhibit, it was mostly his couture and costume pieces, which are beautiful, but really only look good on a mannequin.

This event is known as the Oscars of the East Coast apparently, but I consider the fashion here in California much more cutting edge and fabulous. The Oscars always come off as stuffy and a bit pretentious. I have included a few of my favorite dresses of the evening, with my favorite being Liv Tyler’s custom made Givenchy feather dress, so pretty.
